Given that guidance, and the expected guidance from Los Angeles County Office of Education, we will be dismissing students from school at the end of the day today and for the next two weeks. This dismissal will also allow our staff members to better prepare comprehensive plans for remote learning should the need arise for extended school closures.
Effective Monday, March 16, we will dismiss all Monrovia Unified students, and ask them to stay home for the two weeks leading into our spring break (March 27 – April 5) while we evaluate the appropriate path forward.
There are currently no cases of COVID-19 reported within Monrovia. Please know that the determination was not made lightly and we recognize that it will introduce some hardships for many of our families. Given the rapidly changing nature of coronavirus outbreak, we will remain in constant communication with local and state health officials, provide regular updates to our families, teachers, and staff, and work to be as agile and responsive in our decision-making as possible. This latest decision has been made in an abundance of caution for the health and safety of our school district community and with an eye towards sharing responsibility with the broader community to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus.
Our Village program will be following the same calendar. All CIF athletic competitions will be suspended during this time.
We will provide guidance regarding supplementary resources (both digital and non-digital) and services that may be accessed from home. Students should take any books, supplies and personal belongings home with them after school today, March 13, 2020.
