Monrovia Community Adult School (MCAS) is hosting an open house on Friday, May 13 at 12:30 p.m. to celebrate its partnership with the LA County Workforce Development Board (County WDB) America’s Job Center of California (AJCC) system.
For years, MCAS has operated a One Stop Career Center that was part of the AJCC system. This partnership has significantly improved employment services for job seekers and businesses in Monrovia and the surrounding area, while providing substantial financial aid to students.
In the last four program years, County WDB AJCCs have provided nearly $1 million in tuition for MCAS students to complete Career Technical Education training programs. This financial aid meant students enrolled in the training programs at no cost to them on their way to starting a new career.
County WDB AJCCs have also assisted Monrovia youth and Monrovia businesses. The Monrovia Youth@Work program provides paid internships to Monrovia youth ages 14-24 connecting these youth to Monrovia businesses. The hope is that businesses hire the intern for a full-time position helping the youth and meeting their labor needs.
