MONROVIA - Monrovia Unified School District proudly announces that Bradoaks Elementary Science Academy, Mayflower Elementary School, Monroe Elementary School, Plymouth Elementary School, Wild Rose Creative School for the Arts, Clifton Middle School, and Santa Fe Computer Science Magnet all earned silver medals from California PBIS for their exceptional implementation of the framework during the 2022-2023 school year. PBIS prioritizes nurturing positive behavior and fostering supportive learning environments. These silver medals highlight our success in embracing this approach, underscoring our unwavering dedication to our students' social, emotional, and academic development.
The recognition of each of our elementary and middle schools builds upon similar honors for PBIS excellence that some received for the first time in 2021-2022. In that year, Bradoaks, Mayflower, and Plymouth received silver medals, while Monroe and Santa Fe earned bronze recognition.
In general, PBIS emphasizes four integrated elements: data for decision-making, measurable outcomes supported and evaluated by data, practices with evidence that these outcomes are achievable, and systems that efficiently and effectively support the implementation of these practices. PBIS schools organize their evidence-based behavioral practices and systems into an integrated collection or Multi-Tier System of Supports Framework in which students experience supports based on their behavioral responsiveness to intervention.
This recognition exemplifies Monrovia Unified School District's newly developed Strategic Plan at work. Implementing PBIS is just one way that our schools are addressing the Supportive, Inclusive, and Student-Centered School Cultures focus area and its goal of ensuring that all students belong to a school community built upon positive, supportive, and caring relationships.
Please join us in congratulating each of our schools for this accomplishment and thanking the teachers, staff, and administrators there for working collaboratively to make this possible. Please also wish them well as they set their sights on pursuing gold and platinum medals in future years.
