Dear Monrovia Unified Families, Staff, and Community Members,
Over the past 48 hours, our district staff and administration have been thoroughly assessing property damage, securing school sites, and working to ensure that all campuses will provide a safe and supportive environment when students and staff return.
Due to ongoing issues, including power and water outages at some of our schools, all Monrovia Unified school sites will remain closed tomorrow, Friday, January 10, 2025.
Our team is continuing to work diligently to ensure that every campus has restored power, water service, food service, and internet access. We recognize the critical importance of these essential services to maintaining safe and productive learning environments.
Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority. We are dedicated to reopening schools once we can guarantee that all campuses are ready to deliver both a secure environment and the necessary services for a successful learning experience. It is our sincere hope that conditions will improve enough in the coming days to allow us to reopen on Monday, January 13, 2025, however we will not make that final determination until we have been able to ensure that our campuses are functional and safe.
Thank you for your patience, support, and understanding during this time. We will continue to keep you updated as we make progress toward reopening our schools.
Sincerely,
Dr. Paula Hart Rodas
Superintendent
Monrovia Unified School District
