More than 400 Monrovia Unified seniors eagerly stepped on stage to receive their diplomas during two days of graduation ceremonies honoring Canyon Oaks High School, Mountain Park School and Monrovia High School graduates.

Wearing American flag bandanas and tie-dye shirts decorated in red, white and blue, the Clifton Middle School robotics team known competitively as the Hippie Bots stunned an international field of high school and college students by winning the 2017 FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Dutch Open in Eindhoven, Netherlands on May 20 as the only competing American team.

Santa Fe Middle School students drew thunderous cheers as they launched bottle rockets and gave energetic dance and choir performances during a May 25 open house that unveiled a new school name, mission and principal.

Twisted metal, shards of broken glass and pools of fake blood littered West Colorado Boulevard on May 16 in front of Monrovia High School, where two colliding vehicles kicked off the school’s “Every 15 Minutes” program to demonstrate for juniors and seniors the very real perils of operating a car while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

A Monrovia Unified high school and elementary school were named this week to the Campaign for Business & Education Excellence (CBEE) 2016 Honor Roll, which highlights higher-performing schools that narrow achievement gaps between student populations.

Raucous cheering could be heard all around the Clifton Middle School campus as students, teachers and staff celebrated their newest California Gold Ribbon for the school’s Cub Academy, which provides an individualized support system for students based on their needs.
