Dear Monrovia Unified Community,

Ensuring our students have the tools they need to be successful is a priority at Monrovia Unified School District. Making sure they are counted in the 2020 Census will help our District ensure that success. On Feb. 26, Monrovia Unified’s Board of Education proclaimed April 1 as National Census Day. The proclamation recognizes the importance of the 2020 Census and pledges full support to achieving a complete and accurate Census count.

Asegurarse de que nuestros estudiantes tengan las herramientas que necesitan para ser exitosos es una prioridad para el Distrito Escolar Unificado de Monrovia. Garantizando que ellos han sido contados en el censo del 2020 ayudará a nuestro Distrito a garantizar este éxito. El 26 de febrero el Consejo de Educación del Distrito Unificado de Monrovia proclamó el 1ro de abril como el Día Nacional del Censo. La proclamación reconoce la importancia del censo 2020 y promete pleno apoyo para el logro de un conteo completo y preciso del censo.

Dear Monrovia Unified Community,

There were questions based upon the communication that was sent out yesterday, March 30, regarding social gatherings and social distancing. There is much information provided globally from World Health Organization, nationally from the Center for Disease Control, and more locally from Los Angeles County. As we belong to the Los Angeles community, we believe that the most prudent step is to comply with local recommendations.

Con el crecimiento de las preocupaciones en relación al COVID-19, hemos tomado la decisión de cerrar todos los campos de nuestras escuelas y los sitios para jugar empezando el día de hoy, 30 de marzo hasta nuevo aviso.

As we end our second week of extended dismissal and head into Spring Break from March 30 to April 3, I want to thank you for your patience and support during these challenging times. Our commitment to you remains strong in ensuring all of our students have the tools and resources they need to continue their learning while at home.

A medida que terminamos la segunda semana de nuestro receso extendido y nos acercamos a las vacaciones de la primavera del 30 de marzo al 3 de abril, quiero agradecer su paciencia y apoyo en estos tiempos desafiantes. Nuestro compromiso permanece sólido y garantizando que todos nuestros estudiantes tengan las herramientas y recursos que necesitan para continuar aprendiendo mientras están en el hogar.

Monrovia Unified will observe Cesar Chavez Day on Friday, March 27, and the District will be closed. Due to this, two days-worth of meals will be distributed tomorrow, Thursday, March 26, at the school nearest you! Meal service will continue daily during spring break.

As part of our commitment to providing information on matters related to COVID-19, we urge you to be mindful of pandemic-driven cyberthreats that seek to mislead consumers or steal sensitive information. The FBI is warning people to be wary of malicious websites and apps pretending to track COVID-19 cases worldwide. Criminals are using malicious websites and apps to infect and lock devices until payment is received.

Como parte de nuestro compromiso de proporcionar información sobre asuntos relacionados al COVID-19, urgimos ser conscientes de las amenazas cibernéticas conducidas por la pandemia que buscan engañar a los consumidores o robar información confidencial. El FBI está advirtiendo a las personas para que sean cautelosas de los sitios web maliciosos y de aplicaciones pretendiendo rastrear los casos mundiales del COVID-19. Los criminales están usando sitios web y aplicaciones maliciosas para infectar y bloquear los dispositivos hasta que un pago sea recibido.

As we take on our second week of student dismissal, I want to assure you that the well-being of our students, staff, families, and community remain at the forefront of every decision. We are all learning during this time. Whether learning how to navigate the Google Classroom platform or how to avoid cabin fever, we recognize the many and varied challenges surrounding us these days.
